Being slow and not bringing home the big $ does not make a horse useless.
We are aiming to reduce the "Wastage" in the Victorian Racing industry. It is an unfortunate reality, that far too many horses are bred every year for a sole purpose: to run. If they can't run fast enough, then they only cost their owners and trainers large sums of money, and when it's time to give up the horses need to be moved on quickly. This can mean the horses will go to the sale yards, where they can be purchased by anyone including meat buyers. Or some are taken straight to the knackery. Some don't even get that.
Some horses are more fortunate, their owners will have them sent to a retrainer to then be sold for a new discipline, some will go home with their handlers, and some will be put out to spell while advertised.
We are providing another option for the not so lucky horses in the industry.
